©Julie Whitby is a registered UK Yoga Alliance 500 Teacher, [Senior Teacher]
Licenced to teach Garuda© and Buff Bones, Total Barre [Stott Pilates] Zenga and Zumba.
Finding yoga after a sporting injury in 1999, Julie began her varied study of yoga. She initially studied with Dawn Marie Lister, a dynamic Sivanandan teacher, who inspired a love of breath work and hip opening sequences. Exploring astanga and the strength of self practice with the primary and secondary sequences led to a desire to know more, and to experience a range of different styles and practices.
After qualifying to teach Astanga primary series with David Swenson in 2007, Julie went on to study with Shiva Rae and Max Strom, before completing her 200hours certification with Frog Lotus Yoga in 2008. Julie has since completed her Advanced Teaching certification with Ana Forrest, and obtained 500hrs status in 2012.
Julie is a registered and certified Teen Yoga Teacher, and teaches children's yoga and mindfulness
Julie Whitby taught in gyms and Yoga centres in London, until moving to Kallepia Cyprus in 2014. At present she is involved in setting up a retreat centre in the village and runs a small studio within the village. She teaches an eclectic mix of classes, designed to assist and support class participants in both an energetic and therapeutic manner. After a lengthy career in the law, she is fully aware of how the stresses of daily life can affect both the mind and the body. The rustic village studio is designed to provide a local oasis of calm, for everyone to re-energise, relax and enjoy.
Newly introduced to the time table in 2019, the Garuda © classes with the energy and breath of yoga , the fluidity of dance and the precision of pilates have enabled Julie to diversify and build upon the feedback from studio clients who are looking for a more mat and pilates based exercise programme. The Buff Bones© classes provide a challenging experience for all participants who are looking after their bone and joint health.
